Inside Line Promotions – OWASSO, Okla. (Sept. 21, 2015) – Tony Bruce Jr. has a great track record at Lucas Oil Speedway, but there is one accomplishment he is hunting for this weekend at the semi-banked oval in Wheatland, Mo.

“I’d love to come out with a win on Saturday during the Hockett/McMillin Memorial because it means so much,” he said. “We’re going to have fun this weekend and to honor two great people I grew up racing with. Those guys were there when I was starting racing. We hung out a lot.”

Bruce Jr. will return to competition this Friday and Saturday with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour during the 5th annual Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial. It will be his first event following seven weeks out of the car.

“There’s way less stress now after taking the last few weeks off,” he said. “I almost feel like I can get better results by having fun again and enjoying the moment.”

Bruce Jr. was victorious with the ASCS National Tour earlier this year at Lucas Oil Speedway and he claimed a Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial preliminary victory in 2013.

“I love the race track,” he said. “Something about it fits something I do as a driver. I’m pretty excited to go back there. It’s always exciting to go back to places you’ve won at.”

Bruce Jr. recorded finishes of 10th and fourth, respectively, last year during the event. In addition to his win in 2013, Bruce Jr. placed 3rd during the finale that year. He also posted results of second and sixth, respectively, in 2012 and ninth in 2011 during the inaugural Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial.

“We always refer to notes, but with track conditions and the way things play out you have to make decisions of what the track will give you at that time,” he said. “Anything can happen throughout a given race.”
