Up and Down Night Sees Nienhiser Net Sixth Place Finish at Lake of the Ozarks
PETERSEN MEDIA: Tuning up for this weekend’s big money show at Lake Ozark Speedway, Paul Nienhiser would have an up and down night that ended up with him charging from 21st to sixth in the feature event.
“It was a pretty frustrating night,” Nienhiser said. “We were really good there in the spring so I thought we’d be in the hunt again on Saturday. I drew the pole in my heat, didn’t run well and in my frustration I missed the scales and buried us in the feature.”
Finding himself with some good luck in the draw, the Chapin, IL driver would pull the one pill for his heat race and put the CAM2 Blue Blood Racing Oil/Mason Sound/Innovative Design machine on the pole of his heat race.
Having a wickedly ill handling racecar, Nienhiser would have his hands full and fall back to a third place finish. Heading back to the pit area, a frustrated Nienhiser would blow past the scales, which would result in a DQ from his heat race, and he would be mired back in the 21st starting position in the feature event.
Throwing the kitchen sink at his racecar setup wise, Nienhiser went back to something that worked for him back in the spring and it was a little better than his heat race, but after the race he admitted he still didn’t quite have that comfortable feeling he was looking for.
Baring down and getting his elbows up, Nienhiser would dig himself out of a self-inflicted hole as he worked his way forward and inside the Top-10 late. Continuing to make moves, Nienhiser would close the night out with a sixth place finish.
“I just kind of had to get the elbows up and put the car on edge all race long,” Nienhiser said. “We were faster then most at the end of the race and I do wonder what we could have done had I not put us in a hole.”
This weekend Nienhiser will pilot the Loyet Motorsports No. o5 on Friday night in Granite City, IL and Nienhiser is looking forward to the opportunity.
“Brad Loyet built a brand new car and I know it’s a good package, and I get around Tri-City Speeway pretty well so I am excited,” Nienhiser said. “The Loyet’s are great friends of our and we always have the most so fun so it should be a really cool night.”
Nienhiser would like to thank CAM2 Blue Blood Racing Oil, Mason Sound, Innovative Design, Bradshaw Custom Pumping, Wessler Bros. Agency, Bob Hawks Auto Body, Littleton Storm & Timber, Fierce Herbicide, Sunstoppers Window Tinting, Engler Machine and Tool, FK Indy, Rider Racing Engines, Kaeding Performance, JRC Transportation, Signature Signs and Design, and Steve Thomas Racing for their continued support.
