GENTRY, PENCE, DAVIS, CODY, MCINTOSH, AND MOTHER NATURE CLAIM VICTORIES

Tulsa, OKLA (April 30, 2017) - Joshua Gentry, Caleb Pence, Hank Davis, Ryan Cody, Cannon McIntosh, and Mother Nature claimed victories during Friday night's Creek County Speedway Weekly Micro Series.

Hank Davis found himself in victory lane at the end of the 20-Lap A-Class main event. After chasing down Cole Roberts at the half way mark, Davis went on to win the race. Roberts was chasing Davis down to attempt to retake the lead, but suffered mechanical failure on lap 14, and was unable to finish the race. That moved Shawn Wicker into 2nd, Kris Caroll into 3rd, and Anthony Neel into fourth. Roberts was scored in the fifth position.

It has been the Joshua Gentry show so far this year in the Junior Sprint division, picking up his third feature win. Parker Scheulen was on his way to victory lane, leading the first 6 laps before he found himself stopped at the bottom of turn 4. Gentry inherited the lead on the restart, and went on to win the 15-lap race. Jase Mosely finished 3rd after starting in 6th. Hayden Mabe finished fourth after starting fourth. Mabe made it as far forward as 3rd, but was passed by Mosely to fall back to fourth. Kaley Mahaffey finished 5th after falling back from a 3rd position start.

Caleb Pence found victory lane for the first time in 2017. After starting on the front row, Pence cruised his way through the 20 lap feature event to take home the checkered flag. After starting 11th, Daison Pursley made his way through the field to 2nd place, but the laps ran out before he could challenge Pence for the lead. Rees Day Moran finished 3rd after starting 6th, making a last lap pass on 4th place finisher Preston Scheulen for 3rd. Shawn Mahaffey started 10th, advancing to a top five finish, rolling across the line in fifth at the end of the race.

The Sportsman division drivers sure made Ryan Cody work for his win during the 20-lap feature event. After starting fourth, he made his run towards the front, but struggled to get by the front runners. During the closing laps, Cody was able to catch Justin Simpson with just five laps remaining, and was able to make the pass on lap 15. Simpson had led the entire race thus far until Cody put his bid in for the win. Simpson had a heated battle with Bobby McIntosh until lap 14, when McIntosh pulled to the infield with mechanical problems. Kayla Ward finished third after starting fifth, while Larry Martinez finished fourth after starting 8th. Kamiron Schoonover finished fifth.

Cannon McIntosh won his first race of 2017 in the Outlaw Division. After an early race battle with Kris Carroll, Cannon McIntosh found himself trailing Carroll by a little less than a car length, but was able to complete the pass on Carroll on lap 7. McIntosh ran the rest of the race unopposed and drove on to win the race. Hank Davis inherited the battle with Carroll, shortly thereafter, and wasted no time getting by Carroll on lap 7 as well. Davis went on for the remainder of the race to catch McIntosh, but was unable to catch him. Danny James finished the race in third after starting 6th, shuffling Carroll to fourth. After a brief run for the lead, Shane Hacker settled for fifth, after making it has high as second during the opening laps, but eventually fell backward, loosing spots to Davis, James, and Carroll.

Mother Nature was the big winner of the non-wing feature event. She came and unloaded some rain on the speedway, forcing officials to postpone the 20-lap feature event. The rained out non-wing race will be the first race out of the gate during this week's weekly micro series event. Drivers that were slated to race that race should come to the speedway this Friday prepared to race their rained out 20-lap feature event directly after opening ceremonies on May 5th.

Here is the line up for that race:

  1. Eddie Dishman (73E)
  2. Steven Cooper (57C)
  3. Tim Greene (37)
  4. Ryan Mushrush (9)
