Drake Troutman
Top-10 finish with Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series at Davenport
After picking up his richest career payday on Sunday, Drake Troutman returned to action the next day as he trekked to Dubuque Speedway (Dubuque, Iowa) on Monday to compete with the XR Super Series for the Dubuque Key City Clash.
With a fifth-place finish in his heat relegating him into a B-Main, Troutman raced into the opener with a consolation victory. Chasing a $20,000 payday, Drake gained three spots to finish 15th.
In a field of 32 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) entries on Tuesday at Davenport Speedway (Davenport, Iowa), Drake followed up the sixth-fastest lap in his time trial group with a third-to-first run in his heat. Scoring a top-10 finish in a stout field of cars, Troutman recorded a ninth-place showing.
After Wednesday’s event at Shadyhill Speedway (Medaryville, Ind.) fell to wet weather, Troutman returned with the DIRTcar Summer Nationals on Thursday at Butler Speedway (Butler, Mich.) for the 20th round of the Hell Tour. He went out for hot laps but was sidelined for the remainder of the event with motor trouble.
For the Birthday Race on Saturday at Oakshade Raceway (Wauseon, Ohio), Drake took part in hot laps but made the decision to scratch from the remainder of the program due to track conditions.
The DIRTcar Summer Nationals concluded for Troutman on Sunday at Wayne County Speedway (Orrville, Ohio) with him qualifying for the $10,000-to-win finale via heat race win. Rolling off third, Troutman suffered a flat while running fourth in the closing laps that ended his night on lap 38.
