Great Weather, Huge Crowd and Record Number of Competitors Make for one Phenomenal Mud Bog at The Pit

Jamaica, VA – The Pit at Virginia Motor Speedway hit the Trifecta this past Saturday with great weather, a huge crowd and an overflowing pit full of competitors for the 12th Annual Down and Dirty Run-A-Muck Mud Bog and Mud Sling presented by James River Equipment and Commonwealth Motorsports. The event was also sponsored by Aaron’s, Northern Neck Chevrolet, Atkins Petroleum & Propane, After Hours Fabrication, Collision One, Mud Book, Kings of Mud, The Metal Shop and Truckin Thunder.

Overall 102 different competitors took turns at the state of the art 200 foot pit for a total of 221 registered passes. The day also saw the successful introduction of two new divisions with Mechanicsville, VA’s Matthew Underwood in Hells Bells taking the win in Unlimited X Tractor and King William, VA’s Ray Adkins in Haulin’ Gas taking the win in Obstacle X. Both divisions were the first to run a short course for time.

Winners in each class: Super Stock A and B – Casey Coates in Doin’ It Dirty; Modified A and B – Charlie Wood in Mudweiser; Pro Mod A – Blake Messer in Whiskey Bent; Pro Mod B – Kyle Lohmeyer in Showtime; Unlimited Bog – Kenney Baugher in Assassin; Unlimited X Tractor – Matthew Underwood in Hells Bells; Obstacle X – Ray Atkins in Haulin’ Gas; X Cut Dragster – Jason Massie in Intensity; XX Paddle Dragster – Dale Ellenberger in Touch of Madness.

The Atkins Petroleum & Propane “King of the Hill� Double Down Bonus was offered again to anyone that could win both the A & B classes in the Super Stock, Modified or Pro Mod divisions. It happened twice with Casey Coates in Doin’ It Dirty taking both Stock classes and newcomer Charlie Wood in Mudwesier taking the win in both Modified classes. Each driver received a $500 bonus for being the “King of the Hill�.

The Mega Maniac Challenge presented by Northern Neck Chevrolet offered a $1000 bonus to the winner of the new Unlimited X Tractor and it went to Matthew Underwood in Hells Bells. His first ever win in the class was worth $2000 total.

The Mud Book Crown presented by Kings of Mud and The Metal Shop this year offered the winner of the Unlimited Bog division a one of a kind trophy and a $750 bonus. Kenney Baugher in Assassin was the winner.
