OUR NEXT and FINAL 2018 EVENT: $5,000 to win TOPLESS TURKEY NATIONALS for SUPER LATE MODELS - SAT. NOV. 24, 2pm! Plus MODS-FS-LTDS-4CYL!

The 2018 LoneStar Speedway closes with a huge event, coming Saturday, November 24th (Thanksgiving weekend Saturday) at 2pm...and all details are posted here:

WHO COULD FORGET LAST YEAR’S EPIC LONESTAR TURKEY NATIONALS FEATURE?! $5,000/win TOPLESS SUPER LATE MODELS RETURN NOVEMBER 24th!

Kilgore, TX (11/11/18) by DarinShort.com. LoneStar Speedway (LSS) near Kilgore Texas is proud to announce that the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) presented by Lucas Oil will invade the high-banked 1/3-mile clay oval for the $5,000 to win Topless Turkey Nationals presented in part by P&W Sales on Saturday afternoon, November 24th at 2pm; less than two weeks away! The sun sets on that date at 5:15pm, which should allow us to get the features completed by 8 or 9pm.

30-second rewind of the 2017 Turkey Nationals feature event: When the 400+ cubic inch powered Super Late Model field came down for the green flag of the 40-lap championship feature event, the front row cars of Tyler Erb and Timothy Culp made contact, resulting in each of the hot-shoe drivers having a tire go down; forcing them to the back of the field. As the event resumed, Erb and Culp would methodically pick off one driver after another on the superbly prepared LoneStar Speedway high-banks. Eventually, the pair would make it back to the top five. With just a handful of laps remaining, Culp would track down and battle with the race leader Zach McMillan and slip by for the win. McMillan and Erb would round out the podium positions at the checkers. The event also had a huge multi-car incident mid-way through, no driver injuries were reported.

Here are two video clips from the feature event that highlight some of the action described above: https://youtu.be/rj97bnNncfo and https://youtu.be/MT-xFLE__C8

BACK TO 2018: This event has a bumped-up feature event purse and will attract the top Super Late Model teams from a 6-state region, as it pays $5,000 to win and $500 just to take the green flag in the 40-lap feature event. Other than the cars being topless, all other CCSDS rules and procedures will be in effect. It is also the final championship points event for the CCSDS series in 2018.

The Super Late Models are just part of a jam-packed day and night of racing, as LoneStar Speedway divisions will round out the 5-division racing card. The high-powered Modifieds are racing for $1,200 to win, with $700 to win for the Limited Modifieds, $500 will go to the winner of the Factory Stock feature, and the Front Wheel Drive 4-Cylinder teams will be competing for $200 to win. Great payback will be paid throughout the field, as always at LoneStar Speedway. (See complete breakdown below.)

For fans not familiar with the CCSDS, it is based out of Beebe Arkansas, with Chris Ellis at the helm. Chris states: "It is our goal to provide quality regional late model racing to the fans and tracks of the mid-south. In doing so, we will provide mid-south promoters an affordable series which is financially attractive to the racers, fans, and the tracks."

The CCSDS is essentially aligned with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) rules, which are why they are considered 'Super Late Models', with 400+C.I. engines. This rules alignment also allows them to co-sanction with the LOLMDS series on occasion - when they are in the area. Area Late Model drivers can, and do, run with the CCSDS series. You can expect to see several of those great racers at LoneStar Speedway on November 24th as well.

As time draws nearer, a CCSDS driver roster will be announced, but fans can expect many of these drivers: Jack Sullivan (current CCSDC points leader), BJ Robinson, Zach McMillan, Tanner Kellick, Kyle Beard (April 1st, 2017 LoneStar CCSDS winner), Robert Baker, Chandler Petty, Jon Mitchell, Hunter Rasdon, David Payne, Robby Moore, Jake Davis, Billy Moyer Jr. and Cade Dillard. Several 'invaders’ will show up – as they do every year, and it’s always fun to see who rolls through the pit gate on race day unannounced. 32 Super Late Model teams competed in the event last year, and a comparable field is expected this year.
