Josh Schneiderman – Perseverance Pays Off in 2014!

Despite some challenges and obstacles along the way, Josh Schneiderman and the Deuce Motorsports #49 team can hold their heads high and be proud of a strong 2014 race season. The West Burlington, Iowa driver ended third in the final Sprint Invaders standings, picked up a pair of wins at the 34 Raceway, while competing in 410 competition every Saturday night at the Knoxville Raceway.

Josh finished on the podium five times in ten events with the Sprint Invaders. “We ran extremely well with the Sprint Invaders,” he says. “We couldn’t quite get the victories we needed, but we were always right there wherever we went.”

Oddly, he seemed to have more issues at his familiar haunts. “It seemed that tracks we are usually strong at, we were coming from behind…places like Burlington and Donnellson,” says Josh. “We had a couple instances of heat race trouble. We were able to rebound. I haven’t seen the figures yet, but I think we’d probably be close to being hard-charger of the year.”

Josh knows that finishing third in the Sprint Invaders standings is something to hang your hat on. “The competition is getting really stout with the Sprint Invaders,” he says. “It’s getting tough to come from the back. Everyone is improving their stuff each year, and it’s getting harder and harder.”

He would win twice in 305 competition at the 34 Raceway in West Burlington. Both races were part of double duty outings for Josh. “It was great to have those opportunities,” he says. “We were running the 410 as well both nights, and I have to thank 34 Raceway for putting that money up for the 305 class. We were fortunate enough to win both of those races. I think they have a really good class there at 34 Raceway.”

At Knoxville, it seemed when things started going in a good direction, something beyond the team’s control would happen. “We had a solid night going there four or five nights in,” says Josh. “We had qualified well, and we were poised to run well in the heat race. We had another car get sideways in front of us, and we got upside down. We just never really recovered from that.”

After issues at the Capitani Classic with their gears, the team put in a new rear-end for the Knoxville Nationals. Unfortunately, the new part gave them gremlins. The results saw the team with a big hole to climb out of. “The Nationals was a fluke deal,” says Josh. “Who has ever heard of that happening? Sometimes, you have those years. It can be kind of like quicksand. The harder you work, the more effort you put in…the deeper you sink.”

Nonetheless, the team persevered and turned in a solid season in three different sprint car divisions. “I think our sponsors and fans know we put the best effort forward that we can,” says Josh. “I feel we dealt with the challenges the best we could. At the end of the day, we’re proud of what we did.”

Already, preparations are beginning for 2015. “We’re turning some inventory over right now,” says Josh. “We’ve got a brand new car on order. We’re working on partnership deals right now for next year. We’re knocking on some doors.”
