Wahl, Blacklance, Finckbone, Brauer and Current take the checkered flags

August 24th was a race night in which mother nature could’ve filled in for the Minnesota Twins as a pitcher. Opening the night with clear skies and some high-heater fastballs, the track crews went to work to put a little extra moisture in the track to prevent it from getting too dry later in the evening. After all that effort she threw a curve ball with some clouds and temperatures that dropped nearly fifteen degrees in thirty minutes. Without the sun and temps to dry the surface out, it had to be quickly worked a second time. Soon it was back to business for the drivers and crews.

Opening the evenings feature events was the Wissota Pure Stocks. Macey Anderson started on the pole and Keifer Kainz started in second as they hit the gas bringing the field to the green flag. As the race sped along the car of Dustin Puffe once again was on the move as he made his way to the front followed closely by Kainz and Chris Dudley. Chaston Finckbone who started in 4th began to pick off the front runners one by one on his way to taking the lead away. Mason Scholin had a good run going and was in a battle for a podium finish before a flat right-rear tire sent the car to the pits. The crew members made quick work of the tire change and was able to rebound for a 6th place finish. When the checkers were in the air it was Finckbone with the win, followed by Puffe, Dudley, Kainz, and Aaron Sigerud in 5th place.

In the Wissota Midwest Modifieds Connor Graff and Justin Olson shared the front row as they hit the gas when the green flag was shown. Connor Graff was your early Leader for the early part of the race. As the laps went on some cars came to the front. Lance Schill was in a battle for second and then for the lead. When he had the opportunity, he made an aggressive slide job to take the lead in turn 2 only to have Graff patiently tap the brakes and drive back under him going down the backstretch. As they went through 3 and 4, Schill attempted another Bonzi-like pass for the lead in which he ended up sliding off turn 4. Fortunately for Schill, another car brought out the caution just seconds before his mishap and was able to restart 2nd. Before the field went to green something broke on his car forcing him to retire for the night. As the race resumed it was Justin Olson who started in 7th and Aaron Blacklance who started in 8th who ended up battling for the lead in the closing laps. At the checkers it was Blacklance with the win, followed by Olson, Graff, Hunter Hougard, and Alex Johnson in 5th.

The Wissota Street Stock feature began with Billy Binkley on the front row and John Halvorson starting in second. Jeremy Gust who started in third got a great start and took the lead going into the opening set of turns. Jerome Berger who started 4th soon made his way to the front of the field using a few different lines, able to use the high side as he made his pass for the lead. As the laps began to dwindle, it was the car of Braden Brauer who worked his way from 5th to the lead and would eventually take the checkered flag. Behind him Jerome Berger would claim second. A good battle for third ended up going to John Halvorson who was able to hold off Gust followed by Binkley in 5th.

The Four Cylinders had a good field of cars as Gordon Hunter and Kaylie Winge shared the front row. At the drop of the green flag, it was Hunter who took control early on with Wingie running in second. As those two began to pull away a bit, it was a good battle behind them for positions 3 through 8. Once again Waylon Current was making quick work of traffic and able get through traffic. Soon he was on the tail of the leaders and made a pass for second and then the lead as he went on to claim yet another feature win at the Greenbush Race Park this season. With many good battles behind him it was Gordon Hunter who finished a distant second, Winge, Justin Honer a close 4th, and Travis Olafson moving his way all the way up to 5th.

The final event of the evening had the high horsepower Wissota Modifieds set to do battle. Patrick Sobolik started on the pole in a new car with Mike Tiani starting in the second position. As they accelerated at the drop of the green it was Taini and Duray with good starts, but it was Sobolik out front. Dustin Wahl was making some good passes and trying different racing lines around the track as he navigated his car to the front of the field. Tiani, Sobolik, and Josh Beaulieu had a good battle for the flowing positions. Wahl was able to stretch out a comfortable 10 car length lead when the checkers fell. Coming home in second was Beaulieu, Sobolik, Tiani, and Duray in 5th.
