Greenbush Race Park

9/2/2023 - Soaring temps and car counts at GRP

With temps in the 90's and 128 cars in the pits, it was definitely a great night of racing at the Greenbush Race Park for night one of the annual two day Labor Day weekend double header to wrap up the 2023 race season.

The NLRA Wissota Late Models would send 22 cars to take the green for their feature and polesitter Mike Greseth was the car to beat. A caution with seven to go put everybody on his rear bumper. Greseth got a good jump on the restart but Shane Edginton was right there behind Greseth. Edginton made it interesting but Greseth held him off to get the win. Joey Pederson finished third. Heat wins went to Edginton, Bryce Sward and Dustin Strand.

Cameron Brown led the first lap of the 17 car Wissota Modified feature but it would be seventh place starter Tyler Peterson leading the second lap. Four cautions were the only thing that slowed Peterson down as he cruised to his second win of the year and a sweep of the night. Rick Delaine finished second and Ward Imrie was third, and both drivers won their respective heats.

The Wissota Street feature ran caution free as Jeremy Gust and Weston Ramsrud ran side by side for almost the entire race. Gust ran the cushion and Ramsrud was on the bottom. Ramsrud got by Gust coming out of four with nine to go, but three laps later Gust was back in front. Gust managed to pull away in the closing laps to pick up his third win of the year. Ramsrud finished second and won his heat and Cole Greseth finished third and won his heat.

The Wissota Midwest Modifieds had 21 cars ready to go for their feature and it would be Justin Olson leading the way. Olson led the first four laps before he lost the lead to Connor Graff down the front. A couple of late race cautions kept everyone close but Graff was able to hold everyone off for his second win of the year. Olson finished second and Reise Stenberg was third. Heat wins went to Stenberg, Hunter Weeks and Devyn Welseki.

It was a caution plagued 16 car Pure Stock feature as Dusty Caspers was the early leader. Caspers lost the lead to Josh Berg out of corner four with eight to go and Berg went on to get his fifth win of the year. Caspers finished second and Cameron LaBelle was third. Shannon George, Kevin Baumgarner and Caspers picked up the heat wins.

Blake Erickson picked up his second Mod 4 feature win. Tyler Larson was second and won the lone heat and Ashton Schwinn was third.

Malachi Albrect swept the Hornet division, as Travis Olafson finished second and Mateja Dreyer was third.

Alex Truscinski ran away with the MinnKota POWERi Lightning Sprint feature for his second win of the year Dylan Langevin was second and Alan Truscinski was third and won his heat. Kelsi Pederson picked up the other heat win.

The 4 Cylinders also had trouble with the caution flag but when the checkers flew Waylon Current came from last to first for his second win of the year. Hayden Engen was second and Cory Nelson was third. Heat wins went to Ashton Schinn, Kalin Honer and Engen.
