Tankersley Heading into ASCS Gulf South Region Doubleheader this Weekend

Inside Line Promotions – HIGHLANDS, Texas (July 16, 2014) – Channin Tankersley will return to ASCS Gulf South Region action this weekend holding onto a 76-point advantage in the championship standings.

“I don’t plan on going there in protect-mode,” he said. “We’re attacking this weekend like we have any other. We’re going after the win and hoping not to crash.”

Tankersley, who leads the ASCS Gulf South with seven top fives and 13 top 10s in 16 races this season, will kick off the weekend on Friday at Golden Triangle Raceway Park in Beaumont, Texas.

He has finished in the top 10 in all eight races at the track the past two season, but is searching for his first podium there during that span.

“I guess you could say the monkey is on our back at that place,” he said. “Over the past two years I don’t think we’ve had a worse finish than ninth, but our best finish has been fourth. I don’t know why we’ve stalled out there. We used to be so dominant.”

Tankersley will then make his debut at Leesville 171 Speedway in Leesville, La., on Saturday.

“I’ve heard it’s a really fast, dry-slick place,” he said. “If it holds up to its reputation it should be a good show. I’m going in there blind, but we’ve done that before and won.”
