Wait is Over: Georgetown Speedway Fires Up This Friday (July 23) with Modifieds & USAC East Coast Sprints

GEORGETOWN, DE – The wait is over.

After six silent weeks, Georgetown Speedway roars back to life this Friday, July 23 with a double-headline program featuring the Chesapeake Paving Modifieds and Rapid Tire USAC East Coast Sprint Cars.

The big-block/small-block Modifieds battle for 25 laps competing for a $3,000 winners share, $500 for 10th-place and $250 to take the green flag. The event serves as Round No. 4 of the Sunoco Race Fuels/Insinger Performance Championship Series.

Ryan Watt of Boyertown, Pa., the most recent Modified winner at Georgetown on June 4, currently leads the Modified standings by 17 points over Delawares H.J. Bunting and 20 points over New Jerseys Matt Stangle.

The Rapid Tire USAC East Coast Sprint Cars make their first of two 2021 appearances at the Georgetown half-mile oval on Friday competing in a 25-lap main paying $1,500 to win.

Briggs Danner of Allentown, Pa., leads the USAC East Coast Sprint Car contingent into Georgetown by just 11 points over Collegeville, Pa.s Alex Bright. Danner has five wins this season to Brights four checkered flags.

Last year, the USAC East Coast Sprint Cars visited Georgetown on two occasions with Watt winning in July and Steven Drevicki in October. Drevicki won in the series first Georgetown appearance in July 2019, as well.

The First State Chevrolet RUSH Late Models join the Modifieds and Sprint Cars in what will be a full night of racing. The 20-lap, $1,000-to-win affair will also be race No. 4 of the six-race Sunoco Race Fuels championship chase for the RUSH Late Models.

Defending champion Trevor Collins currently occupies the top spot in the First State Chevrolet RUSH Late Models points chase.

The Southern Delaware Vintage Stock Cars, Little Lincolns, Delaware Super Trucks, and Delmarva Chargers will also be on the card, all racing in 12-lap feature only events.

For the July 23 event, pit gates open at 4 p.m. with the grandstands opening at 5 p.m. Hot laps are set to begin at 6:20 p.m. with racing following at 7:15 p.m.

Grandstand admission is $20 for Adults, $16 for Seniors (ages 65 and up) and Students (ages 13-17). Kids (ages 9-12) are $10 and Children eight and under get in FREE.
