Racing Returns to Georgetown Speedway Friday, June 28 with Sunoco Super Late Model ‘Clash for Cash
GEORGETOWN, DE – After what has felt like an eternity for First State fans, Georgetown Speedway finally returns to action on Friday, June 28.
The top
Sunoco Super Late Model drivers from the Mid-Atlantic Region descend on the
Sussex County half-mile oval for the ‘Clash for Cash 30-lap feature paying a handsome
$3,500 to win and $350 to take the green flag.
No racing has
taken place at Georgetown since an event headlined by the L&J Sheet Metal
Modifieds on May 18.
The ‘Clash
for Cash is a mini-series contested amongst Georgetown, Potomac Speedway in
Maryland and Virginias Winchester Speedway. Points will be tabulated for these
events.
Super Late
Models have competed at Georgetown once this season – on April 18 – with Keystone
State talent Jason Covert taking his first win in the state of Delaware.
Joining the Super
Late Models on the docket are RUSH Late Models competing for $1,000 to win and
weekly series points, Southern Delaware Vintage Stock Cars, Little Lincolns,
Delaware Super Trucks and Delmarva Chargers.
Pit gates unlock
a 4 p.m. Grandstand gates open at 5 p.m. Hot laps hit the track at 6:40 p.m., with racing
at 7:30 p.m.
Adult grandstand
admission is $20. Seniors (ages 65 and up) and Students (ages 13-17) pay $16.
Kids (ages 9-12) pay $10. Children eight and under are FREE.
Pit admission
is $35 for ages 13 and up. Kids (ages 6-12) pay $10. Children 5 and under pay
$2.
As always, delicious
food from Fat Daddys BBQ will be served in both the pit and grandstand areas.
Georgetown
Speedway, originally constructed by Melvin L. Joseph in 1949, is located at the
intersection of Route 113 and Speedway Road in Georgetown, Del., just miles
from the Delaware beaches and less than a 40-minute drive from Ocean City, Md.
