Its Back to Racing This Friday Night, June 1 at Georgetown Speedway; Sunoco Modifieds Headline Show

GEORGETOWN, DE - After a month off, its back to racing this Friday night at Georgetown Speedway.

Under the lights, the Sussex County half-mile oval welcomes Sunoco big-block/small-block Modifieds for a 30-lap main event offering $3,000 to the winner and $300 to take the green flag plus a full program of live and local stock car racing.

There has been no on-track activity at Georgetown since the May 4 Deron Rust Memorial, meaning fans and racers alike are anxious to be back!

A very healthy Friday night pay structure has been put in place for the Sunoco Modifieds: 1) $3,000; 2) $2,000; 3) $1,000; 4) $850; 5) $750; 6) $700; 7) $650; 8) $600; 9) $550; 10) $500; 11) $400; 12) $350; 13) $325; 14) $315; 15) $305; 16-Back) $300.

L&J Sheet Metal Crate 602 Sportsman are on the docket racing for $1,000 to win in a 20-lap main.

L&J Sheet Metal Crate 602 Sportsman battle for the following pay structure: 1) $1,000; 2) $500; 3) $400; 4) $300; 5) $250; 6) $225; 7) $200; 8) $175; 9) $150; 10) $125; 11) $115; 12) $110; 13) $105; 14-Back) $100.

Delmarva Chargers, Delaware Super Trucks, Southern Delaware Vintage Stock Cars and Little Lincolns complete the program.

Aside from the thrills on high-speed on-track action, Georgetown Speedway offers free parking, novelties and excellent food from Fat Daddys BBQ on-site.

On June 1, pit gates will open at 4 p.m. Grandstand gates unlock at 5 p.m. Hot laps hit the track at 6:45 p.m., and racing gets underway at 7:30 p.m.

Admission for the event is $20 (Adults), $16 for Seniors (ages 65 and up) and Students (ages 13-17), $10 for Kids (ages 9-12) and Children 8 and under are FREE. Pit admission is $35 (ages 13 and up), $10 (Kids ages 6-12) and $2 for Children ages 5 and under.

Georgetown Speedway, originally constructed by Melvin L. Joseph in 1949, is located at the intersection of Route 113 and Speedway Road in Georgetown, Del., just miles from the Delaware beaches and less than a 40-minute drive from Ocean City, Md.
