Demand Outshines Supply: Super Late Model Event Friday, September 30 Now Open To ALL; Heats To Be Run, $2,000 To Win, $200 To Start 20-Lap Event Plann

GEORGETOWN, DE €“ Sometimes, demand outshines supply.

And thats the case at Georgetown Speedway for the Super Late Model Brown Bag invitational event that had been scheduled for Friday, September 30. Due to high demand to participate by racers, the event has been opened up to allow all race teams to compete.

Super Late Models will race 20 laps for $2,000 to win and $200 to take the green flag. Drivers will draw for their starting positions in heat races, 8 laps in distance.

Standard Super Late Model rules will be utilized for this event. Minimum weight is 2,300 lbs. with 1 lb. per lap burn-off. Tire rule is as follows: Hoosier 1300 or harder; American Racer 44 or harder.

A host of marketing partners have contributed to make this event possible including Atlantic Auto Brokers, First State Crane, Blankenship Auto Sales, Campbells Collision, Bi-Rite Auto Sales, Cain Construction, Acopia Home Loans, Carl Deputy & Son Builders, Race Track Auto & Marine and Delaware Auto Exchange.

Joining the Super Late Models on the card are big-block/small-block Modifieds racing for $3,000 to win and $250 to start, Crate 602 Sportsman, Southern Delaware Vintage Cars, Little Lincolns, Delmarva Chargers and Delaware Super Trucks.

NASCAR Hall of Fame driver Bobby Allison will be the events Grand Marshall thanks to sponsorship support from Stockley Tavern. Allison will be available to meet fans from 5:15-6:15 p.m. before addressing the crowd.

Pit gates will open at 4 p.m. Grandstands open at 5 p.m.  Racing gets underway at 6:20 p.m., with racing at 7:15 p.m.

Grandstand admission is $18 for Adults, $14 for Seniors (ages 65 and up) and Students (ages 13-17). Kids 9-12 are $10. Children eight and under are FREE. Pit admission is $30 with no license required.

Georgetown Speedway, originally constructed by Melvin L. Joseph in 1949, is located at the intersection of Route 113 and Speedway Road in Georgetown, Del., just miles from the Delaware beaches and less than a 40-minute drive from Ocean City, Md.
