The Wait Is Nearly Over: Racing Returns To Georgetown Speedway Friday, July 22; United Racing Club (URC) 360 Sprint Cars & Big-Block Modifieds Headlin

GEORGETOWN, DE €“ The wait is nearly over.

Thrilling stock car racing returns to Georgetown Speedway next Friday, July 22 with a huge event headlined by the big-block/small-block Modifieds and United Racing Club (URC) 360 Sprint Cars.

For the first time since late-March, Modifieds will hit the historic half-mile track in a 25-lap main event offering $2,000 to the winner. In a unique twist, the event victor will receive a guaranteed redraw position in the Blast at the Beach Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series Fueled By VP event to be held in late-August.

A draw/redraw format will be in place for the Modifieds to set heat and feature lineups.

United Racing Club (URC) 360 Sprint Cars will make their second Georgetown appearance of 2016, taking part in a 25-lap feature. Wantage, N.J., driver Davie Franek was the winner when URC last invaded in May.

Crate 602 Sportsman race 20 laps in search of a $600 winners share, with $100 reserved to take the green flag.

Also on the card: Southern Delaware Vintage Stock Cars (15-lap feature), Delmarva Chargers (heats and 12-lap feature) and Delaware Super Trucks (heats and 12-lap feature).

Pit gates will open at 4 p.m.  Grandstand gates will be unlocked at 5 p.m. A drivers meeting is set for 6 p.m. with track run-in at 6:20 p.m. The first heat race will hit the track at 7:15 p.m.

Adult grandstand admission is $18. Seniors (ages 65 and up) and Students (ages 13-17) pay $14. Kids 9-12 pay $10 and Children under eight are admitted FREE.

Pit admission is $30 for Adults (no license required). Kids 6-12 are $10 and those five and under are $2.

Georgetown Speedway, originally constructed by Melvin L. Joseph in 1949, is located at the intersection of Route 113 and Speedway Road in Georgetown, Del., just miles from the Delaware beaches and less than a 40-minute drive from Ocean City, Md.
