Inside Line Promotions – FREMONT, Ohio (May 31, 2017) – Justin Adams raced his way into his first career sprint car feature last Saturday at Fremont Speedway.
“I’ve been hoping and dreaming of making an A Main and we were able to do it,” he said. “It’s an unbelievable feeling. I need all the laps I can get and being able to race for 25 laps was a big learning experience. And Mom and Dad and Pat and Evan and Chris were all there to see it. Bobby (Sears) wasn’t there so we have to make and I want to make another one when he’s at the track.”
The 14-year-old rookie 305ci sprint car driver nearly made it 2-for-2 on the weekend, missing another feature event by one position on Friday night when Adams opened the weekend at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio.
Adams placed sixth in both his heat race and the B Main to miss transferring into the main event by only one position each time.
“We struggled to keep up with the track at Attica,” he said. “I knew I had to drive the car in harder and I just didn’t get it done. I would say it was two percent on the car and the rest was on me. In the B Main if I had moved down the track a bit we might have been okay. I learned a lot.”
On Saturday at Fremont Speedway, Adams advanced a position to finish sixth in a heat race, once again missing a lock-in position to the A Main by only one spot. He started second and finished third in the B Main, transferring him in the 18th starting position in the feature.
“The track was challenging, but a lot of fun,” he said. “You had to pick where you attempted to make passes very carefully. I got to battle with Tony Beaber. It took me back to racing go-karts against him and bumping and banging. It was a lot of fun and I was able to finish 15th. We need to make the feature more. I need the seat time.”
The 15th-place result gives Adams momentum as he returns to action this Friday at Attica Raceway Park.
