McDowell attends double World 100's at Eldora

Shane McDowell Racing and Dale McDowell made the trek to Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) on Wednesday afternoon to lift the lid on the 51st annual World 100. With the massive 80-car field split into two groups, Dale salvaged a third-place finish in his heat race after officials docked him two positions for apparently jumping the restart. Rolling off on the pole of his heat race on Thursday evening, McDowell cruised to the 20-lap victory, which positioned him fourth on the starting grid for the $54,000-to-win World 100. After leading 11 laps near the middle stages of the 100-lapper, Dale settled with a third-place finish when the checkered flag flew. He followed Brandon Overton and Tim McCreadie across the line with Hudson O’Neal and Jonathan Davenport rounding out the Top-5.

For another round of preliminary features on Friday to kick off the 50th annual World 100, Dale clocked in fifth fastest in his group before picking up a 10-lap heat race win. Improving three spots in the 25-lap A-Main, McDowell scored a fifth-place finish. He trailed Brandon Overton, Jimmy Owens, Kyle Bronson, and Ricky Thornton Jr. to the checkers.

Earning the fourth-starting position for his heat race on Saturday afternoon, McDowell came one spot shy of a transfer position with a fifth-place finish. Electing to scratch from his B-Main and take a provisional into the $53,000-to-win finale, Dale marched forward 12 spots to cross the line in seventh.
