Shane Clanton

Top-5 finish in Wrisco Winternationals lidlifter at East Bay

Following the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) to East Bay Raceway Park (Gibsonton, Fla.), Skyline Motorsports pilot Shane Clanton was one of 70 Late Models amassed on Monday for Wrisco Winternationals opener. After missing a transfer spot by one position in his heat race, Clanton darted to a 10-lap consolation victory, locking him into the 19th-starting spot for the $5,000-to-win A-Main. Wheeling his way into the Top-5, Shane passed 15 cars in the 30-lapper to register a fourth-place finish. On Wednesday evening after Mother Nature axed Tuesday’s program, Shane followed up a fourth-place finish in his heat with a second-place finish in his B-Main. Pulling off early in the 40-lap feature, Clanton retired on the 15th circuit.

For another $7,000-to-win A-Main on Thursday, Clanton grabbed the third-and-final transfer spot in his heat, which positioned him 14th on the starting grid for the feature. Passing three cars, Shane recorded an 11th-place finish.

The following night, Shane was forced to take a provisional into the show after missing a transfer spot in his heat race and B-Main. With $12,000 on the line, Clanton improved nine spots to finish 18th.

To wrap up the week-long Wrisco Winternationals on Saturday, Clanton’s second-place finish in his heat placed him 12th on the starting grid for the $15,000-to-win finale. Dropping three spots in the 50-lap affair, Shane logged a 15th-place outing.

Shane is currently in 10th in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
