LINGO TAMES THE “WILD CHILD FOR SECOND SUPER LATE MODEL WIN AT DELAWARE

Delmar, DE- Donald Lingo, Jr. overcame the recent successes of Amanda Whaley to capture his second victory of the season in thrilling fashion. “I am so glad to get back here twice in one season, said an excited Lingo in victory lane.

From the drop of the green Kerry King took control of the lead with Amanda Whaley quickly jumping to the second position. By lap five, there were two-car battles throughout the field between Whaley and Ross Robinson, Nick Davis and Lingo, and Ricky Elliott and Mark Pettyjohn.

All eyes were on the dueling couple of Whaley and Robinson as the two swapped the second position, lap after lap, switching lanes between the top, middle and bottom of the fast racing surface.

By halfway, King led Whaley, Robinson, a hard-charging Lingo, and Davis. A single-file restart would allow Whaley to get under King for the lead, with a subsequent caution reverting to the previous lap, granting King the lead.

On the next restart, Whaley would successfully pass King, with Lingo and Robinson in hot pursuit.

With two laps remaining, Lingo made his grand entrance, diving to the bottom of Whaley in turns one and two and drag racing down the back stretch. The two would battle door to door with Lingo edging out Whaley at the flag stand, putting a halt to Whaley’s hot, two-week winning streak throughout the northeast.

Ricky Elliott would make a late race charge to third, followed by Robinson and Pettyjohn.

Billy Thompson would capture his first victory of the season in the RUSH Late Model make-up feature event, overtaking Trevor Collins in the early laps to take the checkered in the family-owned Klink No. 49.

Matt Hill dominated the second RUSH Late Model feature event, taking the lead on lap three and running off with a margin of victory of nearly nine seconds over Derek Magee, Billy Thompson, Dana Walker, and Sparky White.

Kirk Lawson, Joe Tracey, and Bunky White went three-wide for the lead on lap three of the Little Lincoln feature, with Lawson ultimately taking the top position, winning by a half straightway over Matt White, Jordan Herbert, Bunky White, and Sean Smith.
