“BATTLE OF THE BAY LATE MODEL SERIES GAINING MOMENTUM HEADING INTO 2017 SEASON
(February 9, 2017 Mark Cathell)
After the formal announcement of the Battle of the Bay Super Late Model and RUSH Racing Crate Models series, between the Delaware International, Potomac and Winchester Speedways, management for all three tracks have been working hard to add more to the venue. The first addition to the nine races would be a points program for the Super Late Model participants. Mark Cathell, marketing manager of Delaware International Speedway, worked with Jim Bernheisel, owner of Bernheisel Racing / Lazer X Chassis to join forces to offer the top point’s finisher a 2018 Stage I Lazer X Chassis. Additionally, first place will receive $1,000, second place $800, third place $700, fourth place $600 and fifth place $500. Denise Hollidge, General Manager of Potomac Speedway has been working hard to add more to the pot. She has confirmed with Hoosier Mid Atlantic, each feature winner in the Super Late Models, will receive a new Hoosier tire.
While working on this venue, Hollidge was also able to land a point’s fund sponsor for the RUSH Crate models for all nine races. Sports Clips of Maryland and Delaware will be disbursing $2000 to the top 5 points finishers, for the Sports Clips Championship Shoot-Out. All nine races will run under the RUSH Racing sanction rules and will play a huge role in those members running for the over $110,000 in contingency up for grabs in 2017. We aren’t finished yet race fans, stay tuned for more updates in the future as the 2017 racing season is shaping up to be one of the best!
