MARK PETTYJOHN HOLDS OFF DONALD LINGO JR FOR THE WIN IN SUPER LATES!

S.R. Pete & Son’s Super Late Models would head out onto the track for the second feature of the Norris Bryan Memorial race, and it was the former Delaware Dirt Track State Championship winner, Rob Schirmer leading the field to the green flag. When the green flag dropped however it was Mark Pettyjohn that was quick on the throttle, and into the lead he went by the time they crossed the start finish line. Pettyjohn, however would not be able to check out as easily as he might have hoped, as Donald Lingo Jr was in hot pursuit. Lingo knew he had an opportunity to grab some points in the tight points chase as Nick Davis was in a backup car after experiencing issues in his heat race.

Pettyjohn and Lingo would start playing cat and mouse and the two would run side by side for the next 19 laps. On lap 11 the caution would fly as Rob Schirmer and former NAPA Big Block Modified champion, Matt Jester, would get together and Jester would come to stop atop turn number one. The slight lead that Pettyjohn had built up would be erased, and Lingo had another shot at taking the lead. The green flag once again dropped, and it was Pettyjohn getting the holeshot. Pettyjohn would continue to fight off Lingo for the next several laps, but on lap 17 the caution flag would fly again as Nick Davis, came to a stop on the back straightaway with as the gears in the rear of the 88k had come apart. This would tighten up the field once again for a 3 lap dash, and what a dash it would be. Lingo tried every groove the track would allow, but at the end of the night it was Pettyjohn’s race to lose, and he would do no such thing as the Milton, Delaware resident would find himself in victory lane!

Heats were won by Rob Schirmer and Donald Lingo Jr.
