DEREK MAGEE MAKES IT A SHORT WAIT FOR HIS SECOND CAREER WIN
Veteran Jamie Eicholz picked up his first heat win of the season, and then found himself pacing the field to the green to start the feature for the Crate Model division. Eicholz would start off strong and pick up right where he left off in the heat, but fellow heat winner Zac Weller and defending feature winner Derek Magee would soon start to put the heat on Eicholz.
After getting around Eicholz for the lead, Magee would start to steadily pull away. Weller and Mike Wharton did what they could to try to keep Magee at arms length, but by lap 12 Magee had a 3 second lead over second place. At lap 13 the first caution of the night would fly when Wayne Smedley came to a stop atop turn number three. That caution would erase the lead that Magee had built up, but it was just what Weller and Wharton had been praying for. The field would regroup, but when the green flag dropped it was again all Magee, and he went on to pick up his second win in a row.
