JAMMIN JAMES BESTS THE FIELD AND MOTHER NATURE!
In the Mod Lites feature it would be a battle of the drivers against one another, and the field against Mother Nature. Storms had been lingering off the Bay Bridge all evening long, and track crews had done all they could to ensure competitive racing while maintaining a gamplan to beat Mother Nature.
When the green dropped it was Brian Short leading the field to the green. Short would jump away from the field, and would quickly start leading one of the best races of his young career. Short would eventually give up the lead to Nick Nash, and Nash would start to work his way through the laps. The caution would fly as the 21 of Kirk Miles Sr. got around in turn three, and the field would once again tighten up. Brandon Dennis had won the previous two races for the Mod Lite division, and was coming up through the field looking for a third straight win. However, in tow with Dennis was seven time winner this season, James Hill. Hill would follow Dennis to the front, and took the lead on lap seven, and that’s all he would need. On lap 11 the rains started to come pouring down, and the racing surface was lost for the evening, forcing track officials to pull the plug with 4 laps and a Street Stock feature short of completing the night. The Street Stock feature will be made up at a later date.
