DELAWARE INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY FALLS VICTIM TO THE WEATHER ONCE AGAIN

By Charlie Brown, Delmar, DE – Racing at the Delaware International Speedway was canceled on Saturday due to the weather conditions. The heat index hit 105 degrees by early afternoon and the National Weather Service had posted a Hazardous Weather Watch for all of Sussex County. Although the thunderstorms skirted the track the heat conditions were considered too dangerous for the safety of the drivers, track workers and fans forcing the management to pull the plug on the S.R. Pete & Sons program which included the United Racing Club Sprint Cars.
The management will be working early in the week to make adjustments once again to the schedule and updates will be posted as soon as they are available on Facebook at Delawareracing or on the web at www.delawareracing.com. When high heat conditions exist or there is a chance of inclement weather fans are urged to call the speedway hotline at 302-846-3968 for updates. Fans can also receive updates on their cell phones by signing up for them at www.delawareracing.com. The service is free but data rates may apply.Speedway logo 2014-01
