HERB TUNIS BECOMES 7TH DIFFERENT WINNER IN S.R. PETE & SONS LATE MODELS

Herb Tunis took full advantage of his pole starting position in the 20-lap S.R. Pete & Sons Late Model feature. Tunis set a blister pace from the drop of the green and the race would play right into his hands as it went green to checkered caution free.

Joe Warren in his small block Ford held the second spot until just before halfway when Nick Davis and Donald Lingo, Jr. got by for second and third. By that point, Tunis was long gone and did not catch up with lapped traffic until one to go. Tunis had no problems with the lapped car as he drove his Mitchell’s Racing Ford to his first win of the season, becoming the seventh different winner in the division this season.

Lingo made a dive to take second from Davis going into the final two turns. Davis was not happy with the move after the race but had to settle for third. Fourth went to Warren and Kerry King rounded out the top five. The heat was won by Tunis.
