MATT SMITH LEADS FLAG TO FLAG FOR 1ST CAREER WIN IN AC DELCO SPORTSMAN
Matt Smith would start on the pole in the 15-lap AC Delco 602 Sportsman feature and would drive a flawless race. Brain Hitz held the second spot until Kevin Sockriter dropped him to third on lap three. The one and only caution of the event came one lap later when Trey Hicks slowed with a flat tire.
Westley Smith, who started in tenth was up to fifth by lap five. On the next circuit he got by both Hitz and Sockriter to take over second behind Matt Smith. Westley was able to get to the back bumper of Matt with five to go but in the closing to laps, Matt was able to open a four car length lead that he held to his first career checkered. Westley Smith finished in second with Sockriter third. Fourth went to point leader Jordn Justice and Devin Dodson rounded out the top five. Heats were won by Jason Rush and Matt Smith.
