DALE HOLLIDGE MAKES 1ST TRIP TO DIS WORTH $3000 IN CAMP BARNES LATE MODELS

A strong contingent of Super Late Models was on hand with heats going to Dale Hollidge of Mechanicsville, Md. in the Greg Gunter/Gunter’s Honey/XR1 Rocket and defending track champion Donald Lingo, Jr. in his Lingo Marine/Ford.

Hollidge, making his first appearance at the track, was the quickest right from hot laps and jumped out to the lead in the 25-lap main. Lingo went to the bottom groove and by lap three was challenging Hollidge for the lead.

“I saw that the modified guys were faster on the top, said Hollidge after the race. “I went up top at the start but could see Lingo coming on the bottom so I moved down. That move would prove to be the winning one as the race went flag to flag without a caution.

Lingo would remain mistake free holding on to second. Mark Pettyjohn would maintain the third spot until late in the race when Ricky Elliott, who started in seventh, got by. Pettyjohn would finish in fourth and Ross Robinson drove a consistent race throughout to keep in the top five and finish in fifth spot.

It was Hollidge’s first win at the speedway and it was worth $3000. The win made Hollidge two-for-two in Delaware this season winning the big late model event at the Georgetown Speedway earlier in the year. Hollidge assured the fans that he would be back for the Fulton 50 for the World of Outlaw Late Models on Thursday night August 11th. The Super Late Model main was sponsored by Ray Huffman and R&J Poultry.

Super Late Model Finish: 1. Dale Hollidge; 2. Donald Lingo, Jr.; 3. Ricky Elliott; 4. Mark Pettyjohn; 5. Ross Robinson; 6. Dylan Evans; 7. Amanda Whaley; 8. Andrew Mullins; 9. Herb Tunis; 10. Kenny Pettyjohn; 11. Joe Warren; 12. Nick Davis; 13. Kellie Lewis; 14. Michael Wilkins; 15. Rob Schirmer.
