19-YEAR-OLD DYLAN EVANS SCORES FIRST S.R. PETE & SONS LATE MODEL WIN

Dylan Evan seized the opportunity of starting on the pole in the 20-lap S.R. Pete & Sons Late Model feature. At the drop of the green he shot away from the field while Joe Warren tried to keep him in sight in second. Ricky Elliott held down the third spot while “the Wild Child Amanda Whaley and Donald Lingo, Jr. filled out the top five.

By just before halfway, Evans had built over a three second lead over Warren. The one and only caution of the event would erase that advantage as Elliott coasted through the three-four turn and came to a stop at the top of the banking.

Evans controlled the restart with Whaley now third and Mark Pettyjohn getting by Lingo, Jr. for fourth. The 19-year-old Evans remained smooth and quick as he cruised to his first win in the division. “I’ve been waiting for this for a long time, said the 2015 division rookie of the year.

Warren with his small block Ford powered car posted his best finish of the season in second with Whaley third. Fourth went to Pettjohn and Lingo, Jr. rounded out the top five. Heats were won by Evans and Elliott. Andrew Mullins, Rob Schirmer and Mike Wilkins made their first starts of the season.DSC01033
