TYLER REED ENDS DROUGHT AND GRABS FIRST WIN OF 2016

IMG_2615

The Crate Model feature would ensure the fans got all of their money’s worth during the night as multiple drivers jockeyed for the lead positions all race long. Zac Weller picked right back up where he left off on the last night at the races as he picked up his heat race win and he wasn’t finished there. Robbie Walls Jr was also victorious in his respective heat race, and with those wins Weller and Walls would find themselves starting in the first and sixth positions respectively.

The feature would start off clean, and Weller would go to work with his lead stretching out from the rest of the field. That lead would be quickly erased when Bryan Brasure spun to bring out the caution on lap 3. The field would regroup and after the restart Tyler Reed started making his push to the lead after starting in the 4th position. Reed would work his way around Mike Wilson for the second position where he would ride for the next several laps. At lap 10 the caution flag would fly again as TJ Williams, Jason Dean, Wes Clifton, and Brandon Sturgis collided in turns one and two. The wreck appeared to be nothing out of the ordinary, but for Brandon Sturgis it was anything but ordinary as the steering wheel in his ride snapped back upon contact, and breaking his arm in the process. Track crews quickly rolled the ambulance, and crew tended to Sturgis to get him into the ambulance to get the attention he needed. Racing resumed after the caution only to fly again as TJ Williams experience more issues from the prior caution. The field came back together, and that restart was all Tyler Reed needed. Weller slipped up and opened the door for him to slip through on his way to the win.
