SCOTT HITCHENS INHERITS LEAD LATE RACE TO WIN $1000 CRATE SPORTSMAN FEATURE

Two multi-car tangles before the first lap was in got the 25-lap Crate 602 Sportsmen off to a slow start. Once the first lap was in Brett Ballard was showing the way with Brandon Grasso and Scott Hitchens chasing from second and third. Grasso kept tight reigns on Ballard and by the halfway point the front of the field was working lapped traffic.

With six laps to go, Grasso and Ballard got together sending Ballard into a spin and collecting Jeff Marker. Both cars restarted at the rear of the field and Hitchens was the new leader. Hitchens, driving the Brandon Blades No. 65 would hold off Westley Smith for the $1000 win. Joe Tracy came from 16th and got by Devin Dodson with three to go to finish in third and fourth respectively and Dillion Steuer, who qualified through the consolation and started in 21st, rounded out the top five. Heats were won by Grasso, Hitchens and Dodson and Nick Alberti won the consolation.
