STACI WARRINGTON RIM RIDES TO 2ND WIN IN SUPER LATE MODELS
Ricky Elliott and Herb Tunis were dominant in their respective heat races but when it came time for the 20-lap S.R. Pete & Sons Super Late Model feature it was a different story. Joe Warren started on the pole with Dylan Evans second. At the drop of the green, Staci Warrington shot from her third starting spot into the lead. Warrington immediately began to work the high groove and pull away from the field.
Her lead would be erased on lap four when Bob Geiger rolled to a stop in the fourth turn. Warrington controlled the restart as Tunis began to pressure Warren for second. Tunis took the second spot on lap six bringing Nick Davis with him into third. At the halfway sign the top five were Warrington, Tunis, Davis, Donald Lingo, Jr. and Austin Hubbard.
Warrington was fast and flawless in the top groove but with five to go traffic allowed both Tunis and Davis to close on the leader. Once through traffic Warrington opened a little breathing room as she drove to her second win of the season. “I didn’t think I would be here this soon, said Warrington in victory lane. It was a very popular win with the fans.
Tunis ended a strong run in second and Davis did likewise finishing in third. Hubbard took fourth from Lingo on the final lap and Lingo held off Elliott for fifth.
