BUNTING SWEEPS REGULAR & MAKEUP BIG BLOCK MAINS ON PnR AUTO CENTER NIGHT

Saturday night was a great night of racing at the Delaware International Speedway with new season sponsor, PnR Auto Center of Salisbury, Md. on hand to present the trophies. H.J. Bunting swept the twin NAPA Big Block Modified features while Staci Warrington put on a driving exhibition in the S.R. Pete & Sons Super Late Models for her first win of the season. Fifteen year old Zac Weller scored his first career win in the Crate Models while Westley Smith kept the streak alive becoming the seventh different winner in the AC Delco PSC Modifieds. James Hill continued to be the driver to beat as he posted his fifth win in the Mod Lites and Ryan Riddle took the Delmarva Charger main.

In the 25-lap NAPA Big Block Modified feature Dana Walker led the first two circuits before slowing and bringing out the yellow. On the restart H.J. Bunting grabbed the lead with Scott VanGorder following in second. Bobby Watkins and Jordan Watson put on a wheel to wheel battle for the third spot and Matt Hawkins held down fifth. By halfway Watson had garnered third and was working on VanGorder for second.

Watson was able to take second with nine to go but Bunting had checked out by a full straightaway. That lead was erased with just two laps to go when Don Hallowell rolled to a stop. On the restart Bunting looked like he was shot out of a cannon as Watson was trying to nurse his car to the finish with a broken water pump. Bunting would have no problems driving to his second straight win with Watson holding on for second. Third went to VanGorder with Watkins fourth and Matt Hawkins fifth. Heats were won by Bunting and Watson.

In the makeup 20-lap NAPA Big Block feature Jordan Watson was just able to complete repairs and fell in at the back of the field. Matt Hawkins led the first pair of laps before Bunting moved on top. By lap six Watson had gotten by Brad Trice for fourth just as the caution flew as Watkins rolled to a stop.

On the restart Watson dropped Robert Dutton to fourth and one lap later moved by Hawkins for second. The yellow was out for a second and final time just before halfway when VanGorder slowed in the second turn. For the remainder of the distance Watson kept the pressure on Bunting with both cars running in the quicker high groove. Bunting made a bobble in the third turn heading for one to go that put Watson on his back bumper but that was as far as he would get as Bunting completed the sweep of the night. Watson, Hawkins, Trice and Dutton rounded out the top five.
