MATT HILL WINS FALL CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFIER IN CRATES
The Crate Models went 20-lap on Saturday night with the winner getting a guaranteed starting spot in the Fall Championship. First year racer, Charles Shawver led the first circuit before Mike Wilson moved on top Cautions in the first half of the race would keep the field tightly bunched. Sparky White climbed to second but Matt Hill was flying in the high groove and dropped White to third on lap five.
Two laps later, Hill was on top with Wilson and White fighting for second. The pair made contact coming down the front straight sending Wilson hard into the wall and bringing out the final yellow on lap seven. With the remainder of the race caution free, Hill was able to pull away to a 3.5 second advantage and pick up his second checkered of the season. White finished in the second spot with last week’s winner, Jamie Eichholz third. Fourth went to Steven Baker and Tyler Reed rounded out the top five. Heats were won by White and Hill.
