RICKY ELLIOTT WINS 5TH IN CATHELL MEMORIAL LATE MODELS

The Super Late Model car count was up slightly with David Pettyjohn, Mark Byram and Eddie Collins making their first starts of the season in the 20-lap William J. & Juanita Cathell Memorial main. Kerry King powered by Herb Tunis to lead the first lap. King would lead the next two circuits before Tunis would drive back on top with Andrew Mullins following into second.

The yellow was out on lap seven as Byram rolled to a stop in the second turn. Rickie Elliott, who started in ninth was on a mission, working by Mullins on the restart and one lap later taking the lead. Mullins and Tunis would make contact while battling for second with Tunis getting around to bring out the yellow once again on lap nine.

On the restart, Elliott would pull away from the field as Mullins held second and Nick Davis followed in third. Elliott had a sizeable lead at the checkered. It was his sixth win of the season. Mullins would settle for second with Davis third. Fourth went to King and Staci Warrington came out on top of a race long battle with Amanda Whaley to round out the top five. Heats were won by Elliott and Mullins.

“We pulled our good car out of the truck for the first time this season, said Elliott. “I know there are some good cars that are going to be rolling in here for Tuesday night’s Camp Barnes race so I wanted to be ready.
