BOBBY WATKINS GETS FIRST CAREER WIN IN BIG BLOCK MODIFIEDS
By Chad Cathell: The first of the Twin 20’s on S.R. Pete & Son’s was a wild one with the Full Moon in full effect. It was the veteran Bobby Watkins leading the field to the green and he had side-by-side action near him as he battled with Scott VanGorder for the first several laps. The caution would fly on lap 3 with Shawn Weber having a flat tire. The field would tighten back up with HJ Bunting and Beau Wilkins on the move. Bunting would battle for multiple laps with VanGorder finally taking the position away on lap 6. Bunting would tighten things up on Watkins on lap 7 with Watkins winning the drag race back to the Start-Finish Line.
Wheel-to-wheel action would continue with Watkins and Bunting throughout the remainder of the race. The caution would fly at lap 15 with Trent Willey making hard contact with Jordan Watson in turn four. Watkins would continue to fight off the 85 of Bunting, and keep his line smooth and steady on his way to picking up his first career NAPA Big Block Modified feature win. Heats were won by Bunting and VanGorder.
