NICK DAVIS GRABS LATE LEAD FOR FIRST CAREER SUPER LATE MODEL WIN

The 20-lap Super Late Model feature was a real crowd pleaser. Staci Warrington was quick from the drop of the green with Nick Davis settling in second. Andrew Mullins worked by Herb Tunis for the third spot while Joe Warren ran in fifth. Warren worked his way past Tunis for fourth and Donald Lingo, Jr. followed into fifth.

The race would run caution free and Warrington was flawless through the halfway point. Davis started to apply the pressure from the low groove while Mullins watched from a close third. The lead battle continued until two laps to go when Davis was finally able to edge in front and lead the final two circuits for his first career win in the division. Mullins nipped Warrington for second with Lingo, Jr. edging Warren for fourth. Heats were won by Tunis and Lingo, Jr.

It was an emotional victory lane for Davis. His brother and fellow competitor, Ray Davis, Jr. had been seriously injured as a passenger in a auto accident the week prior. “It’s been a rough week, said Davis. “I’ve been up there (Christiana Hospital) every day and hadn’t really messed with the car. I don’t know what to say. As a side note, Ray Davis, Jr. is now breathing without the respirator and has been talking some with his family and friends.
