"ROWDY" ANDREW MULLINS GETS 1ST LATE MODEL WIN IN OVER A YEAR
The 20-lap Super Late Model feature was a good one. Joe Warren driving his experimental small block Ford powered car quickly opened a lead from his pole starting position. While Ray Davis, Jr. battled with Herb Tunis second, Andrew Mullins was on the move in fourth. Ricky Elliott quickly climbed to the fifth spot but slowed to a stop on lap three to bring out the first of only two cautions.
On the restart Warren continued to lead with Mullins getting by Davis, Jr. for second on lap five. Mullins quickly closed the gap between himself and Warren and took the top spot on lap eight. Donald Lingo, Jr. pulled into second on the following lap as Austin Hubbard cracked the top five.
The final yellow was out on lap 12 when Nick Davis slowed to a stop on the back straight. Mullins was able to keep a small lead over Lingo, Jr. to the finish. It was Mullins’ first win in more than a year. Lingo finished a solid second with Hubbard coming on strong in the closing laps to finish in third. Fourth went to Davis, Jr. and Warren posted a personal best in fifth. Heats were won by Mullins and Warren.
