JIMMY WILLS TAKES CONTROVERSIAL WIN IN MOD LITES
The 15-lap Mod Lite feature was a hotly contested affair. Richard Rexrode led lap one before Mike Stratton moved on top. James Hill quickly worked into the second spot and by lap four was challenging Stratton for t he lead. Stratton held off the challenge as Jimmy Wills worked into the third spot. At halfway the top five were Stratton, Hill, Wills, Jason Musser and Rexrode.
Wills took second from Hill with six to go. With three to go he was challenging Stratton for the lead as the yellow came out for Jake Nelson. On the restart Wills and Stratton got together coming off four with Stratton getting around and bringing out the yellow. Musser was now up to second and made a bid for the lead on the restart. Wills held off the challenge while Tim White, who started in 13th pulled into fourth with Ty Short following into fifth. Wills posted his second win of the season with Hill nipping Musser for second at the wire. White finished in fourth and Short rounded out the top five. Heats were won by Hill and Stratton.
