RICKY ELLIOTT STARTS OFF ON TOP IN LATE MODELS

The 20 lap Super Late Model feature was a torrid battle right from the drop of the green. Donald Lingo, Jr. and Ricky Elliott had captured their respective heats and started one-two on the grid. Lingo went to the top groove immediately while Elliott challenged on the bottom. Andrew Mullins gave chase from third but the battle was up front.

The first yellow came just past halfway when Kelly Putz slowed. On the restart Lingo held the top spot over Elliott as Mullins, Staci Warrington and Amanda Whaley held down the remainder of the top five. Going into the fourth turn on unlucky lap 13, Lingo got crossed up. That was the bobble that Elliott had been waiting for as he shot to the bottom and into the lead.

Kerry King would come to a stop to bring out the second and final yellow with five to go. Elliott held a two car length lead of Lingo for the remaining distance to take the checkered. The top five remained unchanged in the closing laps with Mullins, Warrington and Whaley crossing in order.

“Lingo had the fast line up top, said Elliott. “I just tried to keep under him and pressure him into a mistake. He almost spun and got both of us but I was able to get by.
