NICK SAPP WINS FIRST OF SEASON IN MOD LITES
The 15-lap Mod Lite feature was a very competitive and wild affair. Nick Nash led from the drop of the green. James Hill was on the move but spun on lap three involving five other cars. On the restart, Nick Sapp took second from Jimmy Wills. The pair would swap the position several times before Sapp gained control of it.
Sapp took the lead at the halfway sign as Nash brought out the yellow. On the restart, Mike Stratton took up the chase with Jimmy Wills challenging on the outside. Ray Gulliver ran in the fourth spot and Landis Musser held fifth. The final yellow came out for a wild spill in the first turn when Wills bicycled then flipped several times. Wills was shaken but uninjured in the crash.
In the final laps Stratton kept the pressure on Sapp while Musser worked by Gulliver for third. Sapp would make no mistakes to take his first checkered of the season with Stratton second and Musser third. Gulliver finished in the fourth spot and Tim White rounded out the top five. Heats were won by Wills and Nash.
