ELLIOTT WINS 7TH IN A ROW IN LATE MODELS

Elliott7Ricky Elliott continued to be flawless in the 20-lap Late Model feature on Pepsi Night. Elliott benefited from the inversion draw which was a zero and placed him on the pole after winning the first heat. Second heat winner, Amanda Whaley started in the second spot and kept Elliott within striking distance in the early going.

Brandon Dennis was on the move taking third from Kerry King. King made contact with Dennis but spun off the third turn to bring out the caution. Donald Lingo, Jr. worked past Dennis who began to slow on the restart and who would come to a stop to bring out the caution on lap six.

David Pettyjohn was making his first start of the season and entered the top five behind Nick Davis. Whaley’s charge would end just before halfway when she spun in the turn bringing out the yellow once again. Davis was now in second with Pettyjohn third.

Pettyjohn took the second spot with five to go but had to fend off Donald Lingo, Jr. for the spot. Lingo slid up in front of Pettyjohn in the second turn but ended up on the nose of Pettyjohn’s car and spinning with just two laps to go. Elliott was able to hold off Pettyjohn on the restart and for the final two circuits for his seventh straight win. The bounty on Elliott now increases to $600. Pettyjohn survived to finish in second with Dale Lingo coming on strong in the closing laps to finish in third. Fourth went to Lou Johnson who got by Davis on the final lap.
