RICKY ELLIOTT ROCKETS TO SUPER LATE MODEL WIN

Elliott (1)Ricky Elliott pulled out the car that he had been so successful with last season and took it to the opening night win in the 20-lap Super Late Model main.

 

Defending point champion, Donald Lingo, Jr. started on the pole and set a blistering pace at the start of the feature. David Hill, driving his new car was running strong in second and veteran Lou Johnson held down third. Elliott began his charge by dropping Johnson to fourth then by taking second from Hill on lap seven. Two laps later he moved by Lingo, Jr. for the lead.

 

At the halfway sign the top five were Elliott, Lingo, Jr., Hill, Brandon Dennis and Kerry King. The second half of the race was all under the green and Elliott was able to pull away from Lingo, Jr. and record the win in the J&M Roofing/Rocket. The rest of the order remained unchanged with Lingo, Jr. Hill, Dennis and King rounding out the top five. Heats were won by Elliott and Kerry King, Jr.

 

“This is the car that we ran last year and this is the car that we won the champ show at the end of the season, “ said Elliott. “It’s just a great car. The track was fantastic. Boy I’ll tell you it was fast out there.�
