Delaware International Clarifies Article in the March 12th Area Auto Racing News

speedway logo3By CHARLIE BROWN, DELMAR, DE – This week’s article (March 12th) in the Area Auto Racing News was misleading and generated numerous calls to the Speedway office. The article penned by Bonnie Nibblett carried the erroneous headline “Late Models To Get Same Pay As Modifieds.

Ms. Nibblett misquoted the February 9th article posted on www.delawareracing.com and the following week in Area Auto which stated, “The Super Late Model class has grown in both numbers and popularity over the past few seasons. Due to this fact the Super Late Models and the NAPA Big Block Modifieds will competing for an equalized point fund pay out in 2013.

No mention was made concerning purses in the February 9th release. In 2013 the Super Late Models will  continue to run 20-lap feature events and the Big Block Modifieds will continue to run 25-lap feature events and the difference will be reflected in their individual payoffs as in last season. Extra distance special events will continue to carry their own individual purse structures.

Ms. Nibblett was not authorized by the Speedway nor will she ever be authorized by the Speedway to write releases related to the policies and procedures of Delaware International Speedway. Question or concerns related to the track’s policies and procedures can be answered by calling the Speeday office Monday through Friday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. We apologize for the confusion.
