FANS GET SEASON PREVIEW WITH SAT. TUNE & TEST

Delmar, DE – Unseasonably warm spring weather has everyone ready for the 2012 racing season. It has also aided track crews in adding new clay to the surface to make sure that the half-mile will be extra fast right from drop of the green.

The Delaware International Speedway will open its gates this Saturday night, April 7th and will be free to the public on the spectator side. This will be the first opportunity for fans to see who is returning, who is new and who is coming out of retirement.

One of the new drivers in the field will be third generation racer, Eric Humlhanz. Eric’s father, Greg was a former Rookie of the Year at the speedway and most recently has been a competitor at the Grandview Speedway in the small block modifieds. Eric’s grandparents are Tom and Pat Humlhanz who are former big block modified car owners and both currently work as pit officials. Eric is a former quarter midget champion and has finally reached the age where he can compete in the AC Delco PSC (Professional Service Centers) Modifieds.

Two former drivers coming out of retirement this season are Eddie Brown and Bobby Walls, III. Brown, who was a strong runner and former feature winner (13 career wins) in the Big Block Modifieds will be running his own AC Delco PSC Mod this year. Walls is a second generation driver and former two-time (1997, 2000) Mod Lite champion and will be behind the wheel of the Ed Cole Mod Lite.

The 2012 point season will start the Saturday night, April 14th with “Delmar Night. Action will feature the NAPA Big Block Modifieds, Super Late Models, AC Delco PSC Modifieds, Crate Models, Mod Lites, Little Lincoln and Vintage cars.

Cathell Memorial with the first of three URC Sprint car events. Other URC events will be on R.C. Holloway Night on June 30th and on Sept. 1st.

The World of Outlaws Late Models will return with the “Fulton Bank 50 on Thursday night May 31st.  There will be “Twin 20’s for the NAPA Big Block Modifieds on June 2nd and for the Super Late Models on August 4th.
