RICKY ELLIOTT COLLECTS CAMPBELL'S COLLISION $$$$

By Charlie Brown, Delmar, DE – Ricky “the Rocket Elliott became the ninth different winner in the Super Late Models this season. He picked a great night for his first win of the season as Campbell’s Collision of Fruitland, Md. posted a $1000 bonus to the winner of the 30-lap main.

Ross Robinson started on the pole but it was Mark Byram powering by both Kenny Pettyjohn and Robinson to lead lap one. Elliott wasted no time and was running second from his fifth starting spot by lap three. Richard Jarvis, Jr. was on a charge coming from eighth to third by lap nine. Jarvis got by Elliott for second then slipped high dropping to fifth.

By the halfway sign Elliott had moved to the bottom groove and was challenging Byram for the lead. Jarvis’ night would go up in smoke on lap 17 with both Mark Pettyjohn and Staci Warrington spinning in the fluid.

Elliott went back to work on Byram in a great side by side battle for the next five laps. Elliott had just tucked back into second when Byram slipped high leaving the door open for Elliott to take the lead.

Elliott took the point with six laps to go and would make no mistakes as he drove to the win. “I tell you, you’re wide open all the way around, said Elliott. “Mark (Byram) was pounding the top and I just couldn’t do anything with him. I don’t know if he hooked the cushion or what and went off the top but we had a heck of a race going on there.

Donald Lingo, Jr. came on strong in the final five laps to finish in the second spot with Byram third. Fourth went to Mark Pettyjohn who came from the back of the pack and Ross Robinson rounded out the top five. Heats were won by Herb Tunis and Donald Lingo, Jr.
