MATT JESTER IS NO JOKE – WINS 4H BIG BLOCK FEATURE IN DELAWARE

By Charlie Brown, Delmar, DE (7/2/11) – Matt “the Joker Jester proved that he is no joke as he extended his point lead by pulling off his fourth win on the July 4th weekend in the 25-lap NAPA Big Block Modified feature Saturday night’s Topless Night at the Delaware International Speedway.

Robert Dutton looked to be the force to be reckoned with as he jumped out to the lead keeping H.J. Bunting at bay in second. Eric Kormann worked by Dana Walker for the third sport with Brad Trice following into fourth.

The first of only two cautions flew on lap five when Ron Roberts got around. Under the yellow, last week’s winner, Joseph Watson headed to the pits. Kormann got by Bunting for second on the restart but Bunting moved back into the spot down the back straight. Jester entered the top five after driving from 11th on lap seven. On the next circuit he took fourth from Trice then in two laps more worked by Kormann for third.

The second and final yellow was out on lap 11. On the restart Jester would thread his way between Bunting and Dutton in the second turn to take the lead at the halfway sign. Bunting got by Dutton for second as Beau Wilkins cracked the top five.

As Jester maintained a comfortable lead Trice took third from Dutton. Wilkins followed into the fourth spot. At the checkered, it was Jester, in the Clearview Farms/Bicknell taking the win.

“We’ve kind of struggled with this topless deal since Jamie (Mills) wrecked last year, said Jester. “We just threw something at it and it was tied to a string. We just tried to ride along and keep it in one piece.

Bunting finished in the second spot with Trice third. Fourth went to Wilkins and Dutton ended a good run in fifth. Heats were won by Dutton and Walker.
