MATT JESTER FLYS TO 3RD WIN IN DELAWARE BIG BLOCKS
By Charlie Brown, Delmar, DE (6/18/11) – “The Joker Matt Jester was no joke on Saturday night as he came out on top of a good battle with Beau Wilkins in the 25-lap NAPA Big Block Modified feature to collect his third win of the season at the Delaware International Speedway.
Beau Wilkins looked strong at the start as he took command of the race from his pole starting position. Eric Kormann ran in second with Brad Trice in third. Trice got by Kormann for second on a lap two restart as H.J. Bunting got by Jester for fourth.
Jester cranked it up on the outside and pulled back by Bunting and continued to drive by Kormann for the third spot. Trice was applying the pressure to Wilkins for the lead and Jester joined the challenge, taking second from Trice on lap 10.
At the halfway sign the top five were Wilkins, Jester and Trice with Joseph Watson and Bunting battling for fourth. The final 11 circuits were all under the green.
Jester pulled even with Wilkins with seven to go and one lap later moved into the lead. Once out front, Jester was able to open a comfortable advantage as he drove to his third win of the year and extended his point lead. Wilkins ended another good run in second with Trice third. Fourth went to Bunting and Watson rounded out the top five. Heats were won by Dana Walker and Robert Dutton.
