ELK MOONEYHAM MEMORIAL TO OFFER BIG PAYDAY AT DIS
Delmar, DE – Kenny Pettyjohn will be out to defend his win of a year ago in the 4th Annual Elk Mooneyham Memorial, Saturday night, June 11th at the Delaware International Speedway. The special event will offer big dollars in bonus money in all divisions.
Four years ago drivers Hal Browning and Brian Donley put together the memorial program in memory of Elk Mooneyham. Mooneyham had been a friend and long time sporsor of Browning’s since the early 1960’s. Browning and current car owner Brian Donley, have dedicated this event to his friendship and memory.
The Super Late Models will compete in a 30 lap feature paying a $2500 bonus to the winner. That will make the winner’s share of the purse a whopping $3750. There will be an open tire rule for Late Models only, with any brand or compound 29x11 tire being allowed. All other DIS Late Model rules will apply.  A $1500 bonus will be paid to the highest regular competitor running on the DIS track tire. The driver must have competed in at least three events at the track this season. Any driver taking part in the heats, consolation or feature will receive 100 points.
Lots of extra bonus money has been posted for this event. The Big Block Modifieds will also be going 30 laps in their feature competing for a $1000 winner’s bonus. That will make their 30 lap event worth $2750 to win. The speedway will provide bonus money to the winners of the rest of the weekly divisions with the Crate Models and AC Delco Modified winners receiving $100 bonuses each and the Mod Lite and Vintage feature winners receiving $50 bonuses each.
General admission for the event will be just $12.00 on the spectator side and $25.00 for the pits. Children 13 and under are free when accompanied by an adult on the spectator side only. Child’s pit admission is $3.00. Gates open at 5 p.m. with hot laps at 7 p.m.
