STACI WARRINGTON OUT RUNS THE BOYS IN DELAWARE LATE MODELS
Delmar, DE – Staci Warrington took full advantage of her pole starting position in the 20-lap Super Late Model feature Saturday night at the Delaware International Speedway. At the drop of the green, Warrington hammered the throttle and drove a flawless race to hold off defending champion Donald Lingo, Jr. for the win.
Warrington set the early pace ahead of Derrike Hill and Kerry King. Hill’s night would end early as he rolled to a stop with a flat on lap four. King was now in second but Amanda Whaley cranked it up on the restart and took second. With the girls running one-two the crowd was on their feet.
King was next to end his drive tangling with David Hill on lap six. On the restart, Donald Lingo, Jr. moved by Whaley into second. At the halfway sign the top five were Warrington, Lingo, Whaley, Richard Jarvis, Jr. and Andrew Mullins.
Smoke started to show from Whaley’s car and Mullins was able to get by both Jarvis and Whaley for third. The final yellow was out with three to go as Whaley finally drifted to a stop in a cloud of smoke.
Warrington was not daunted by the late race caution and again took off at the drop of the green and hold the lead for the final laps to take the win in the Warrington Construction/Rocket.
“It’s been a tough year, smiled Warrington. “I can’t believe it! I was ready for another win.
