(Warrensburg, Missouri) Midwest Coatings Inc. Race Night featuring the Fifth-Annual Super Stock Showdown, Pure Stock Track Special, plus NASCAR weekly racing for A-Mods and B-Mods, drew 88 race teams for competition. The race night featured extra money on the line for the POWRi Super Stocks and Pure Stocks as they ran for $2,000-to-win and $800-to-win for their main events.
Drivers competed in ten preliminary heat races to setup the night’s main events using the passing points earned system. By the end of the night in the stock special events, Aaron Poe found himself in Super Stock victory lane while Spencer Reiff took top honors in the Pure Stocks. Gunner Martin collected the A-Mod weekly series win with Brad Smith fighting back to victory in B-Mod action.
Late week soaking rains made for some challenging conditions for the drivers and track crew, but the drivers performed well in avoiding any major incidents on track after the crew took several opportunities to provide them the best possible surface in the moment.

For the Fifth-Annual Super Stock Showdown, Beau Davis of Cheney, Kansas, and Cleveland, Missouri’s Devin Irvin earned front-row honors for the #2,000-to-win Super Stock Showdown to cap the race night. Poe paced the field early on over Irvin and Michael Muskrat. By lap five, Poe’s dominance of the field stretched his lead to nearly a full straightaway with an outstanding battle behind him for runner-up spot between Irvin, Muskrat, Jay Prevete, and Chase Galvan. After a lap six restart, Poe continued his lead until a second caution period at the lap nine marker. When racing resumed, Irvin did his best to stay close to Poe, but as laps clicked off Poe again distanced himself from Irvin. The close racing continued for positions in the top five among Muskrat, Prevete, and tenth-starting Clayton Campbell. Prevete’s strong run came to an end on lap 13 just before caution flag number three and four fell on the field at lap 13 and 14. From here on, the race stayed green with the leaders avoiding the challenging middle portion of the track. Poe led Irvin, who challenged Poe from the low side as Poe preferred the highline. Meanwhile, Campbell and Muskrat had their own battle for third as Marc Carter made his way to the top five. Late in the race, heavy lapped traffic kept the lead drivers on their game and fans cheering their drivers on with every turn. Poe eventually emerged as the victor collecting his fourth victory of the season. Irvin was smooth and steady in second while tenth-starting Campbell moved up to third. Marc Carter also gained grown by race end to secure fourth with Muskrat’s long-distance travels paying off to round at the top five.

Joey Harper and Jimmie Workman earned front-row starting honors for the 25-lap, $800-to-win Pure Stock Track Special Event. Workman paced the early laps from the low side with Reiff in close distance up high as the pair tried to put distance on their closest pursuers. At the lap seven marker, Reiff’s persistence paid of as he moved up to grab the lead over Workman. Lapped traffic came into play by lap eight as Chase Galvan moved in to challenge Workman for second. The fast-paced racing continued under green-flag conditions through lap 17, when the first yellow flag fell on the field. Reiff then led Galvan, Workman, Joey Harper, and Jonathan Evans after another quick yellow-flag period. Reiff held steady up front with Workman finding his way back to challenge Galvan in second by the lap 20 marker. Inside of five laps to go, tenth-starting Cory Flamm moved in to challenge for a top-five run with Harper. Up front, Reiff maintained his consistent line through lapped cars and went on to collect the special-event victory, his fourth of the season with Workman holding on to second with Galvan third. Gunner Martin found himself starting on the front row alongside Shad Badder at the drop of the initial green flag for the 25-lap A-Mod main event. Badder set sail to lead the opening laps with Martin, Lewis Jackson, and Jason Pursley in pursuit. Badder and Martin pulled away from the field by lap four and on the next circuit Martin moved to the front of the field. Yellow conditions flew at lap eight to restart the race as Martin then led Badder, Jackson, Rodney Schweizer and Tyler Davis. Shortly after, Badder’s night came to an end on the front stretch along with Davis as both drivers retired from the race. When action resumed, Martin built a comfortable lead, with Jackson and Dustin Hodges in a furious battle for second while Tim Karrick and Pursley also ran close inside the top five. Karrick was the next car to retire early a short time after caution flew again on lap 14. Martin took the restart green flag leading Hodges, Jackson, Pursley, and a hard-charging Dennis Elliott from seventeenth starting spot. Martin built a full straightaway lead by late in the race and after a green, white, and checkered flag finish to complete the race, ultimately went on to collect his seventh win of the season. Hodges moved from ninth to second by the finish, Jackson was steady in third as was Schweizer, and Pursley to round out the top five.

Two of the all-time winningest drivers started the night’s B-Mod main event from row one as Brad Smith who owns 40 main events earned pole honors as Jacob Ebert who has 50 CMS victories started on the outside. The field had a rough go to start the field as a trio of cautions took place before lap five with Smith initially out front over Ebert, Shadren Turner, Sebastian Wolfenbarger and Joey Lile. Turner moved in to challenge Smith up front and grabbed the lead as he and Smith pulled away through the early caution periods. Debris flew at lap eight in what turned out to be several cautions for debris over the course of the 20-lap race. Turner held strong in front of Smith who challenged lap-after-lap after each of the next three restarts. Ebert, Lile, and Wolfenbarger stayed strong inside the top five. Yellow flag conditions waived one more time at the five to go marker. Turner then held the lead over Smith. At lap 17, Wolfenbarger’s strong top-five run came to an end as he retired to the pits, where a negative conduct points penalty was assessed leading to an unfortunate disqualification. Smith regained the lead at lap 17 with Turner staying close to the finish, but Smith was the man to beat on this night as he collected his 41st career CMS win ahead of Turner and Ebert. Twentieth-starting Jeremy Lile mastered his way around the track to finish fourth over Scotty Martin and Joey Lile in a close finish to round out the top six at the line.
